A place to practice the art of living well
Wayward Haven is a place of practice — a living environment where the work of living well is carried out in small, repeatable ways. We tend the land, yes, but more importantly, we tend the practices that shape a coherent life.
We believe leadership begins with self-trust. We believe steadiness is cultivated, not inherited. We believe a life becomes whole through rhythm, not urgency.
This is where we practice these truths — and where we invite others to practice alongside us through visits, gatherings, and the quiet work of the seasons.
We believe a life becomes fragmented when attention is scattered. And we believe it becomes whole again through rhythm, grounded work, and the quiet courage to live from the inside out.
Wayward Haven is our attempt to live that belief in the world.
Who we are
We are the stewards of this land — tending soil, tending rhythm, tending the conditions that help a life grow well. Our work is not heroic. It’s daily. Repetitive. Rooted. The kind of work that shapes a person slowly and honestly over time.
We came to this farm because the life we were living wasn’t ours anymore. Too fast. Too loud. Too externally driven. The farm began as a personal reclamation — and became a place for others seeking the same.
What we practice here
Seasonal rhythm
Letting the land set the pace. Letting work rise and fall with the seasons.
Attention
Returning again and again to what is real, present, and life‑giving.
Steadiness
Choosing small, repeatable practices over dramatic reinventions.
Enoughness
Learning to live within limits — not as deprivation, but as freedom.
These are the conditions we cultivate in our own lives, and the conditions we share through our writing, workshops, and the daily life of the farm.
What we offers the world
Wayward Haven is not a retreat center. It’s not a productivity hack. It’s not a place to escape your life.
It’s a place to return to yourself.
We offer:
- Seasonal visits and open farm days
- Writing and reflections from the Hermit’s Porch
- The Conditions for Living Well — our framework for coherence
- Farm & Folk Shop — where the philosophy becomes physical
- Seasonal goods crafted under Kentucky’s home‑based processor laws
Everything we offer is small‑scale, human‑paced, and rooted in the real work of tending a life.
Why we exist
Because too many people are living lives that aren’t theirs.
Because the world is loud, fast, and disorienting — and people need places that are quiet, slow, and orienting.
Because living well is not something you chase. It’s something you cultivate through practice.
And because a small farm in Kentucky can be a sanctuary — not by being perfect, but by being honest.
